Starting University Soon?

We Help You To Feel Confident & Ready

Starting university is exciting but it can also feel overwhelming, lonely, or not quite what you expected

You prepared academically

But no one explained the emotional side of transition, the identity shift, loss of familiarity, and pressure to “settle in” quickly

Transition isn’t over in a single week.

It’s a psychological process

We help you understand what’s happening in your mind and emotions so you can move from:

Overwhelmed → Steady   Uncertain → Self-assured   Disconnected → Belonging

This isn’t about “coping”

It’s about learning how change works and confidence becomes predictable

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m really excited about starting university but also really nervous, is that normal?

Yes feeling this mix of excitement and nerves is completely normal.

Starting university is a big life change: living independently for the first time, meeting new people, managing your schedule and studying in a different way all at once.

Feeling a bit unsure doesn’t mean you’re not ready, it just means this transition matters, and we’re here to help you make it feel more manageable and we hope even exciting.

What’s the difference between the Quiz, the Guide and the Online Course?

  • Quiz: This is a free way to quickly assess where you are and get some personalised insights.

  • Stepping Into University With Confidence Guide: A practical guide that turns your quiz results into simple steps to reflect and work on over the summer.

  • Online Course: A step-by-step supported programme designed for new or soon-to-be university students who want step-by-step support to adjust, settle in and succeed from day one.

I’m worried about making friends, what support do you offer for that?

Worrying about friendships is not unusual. In fact, this was a key topic in all of our Student Voices Podcast conversations

The resources we provide help you plan socially as well as feel confident in social settings.

That includes tools and frameworks for approaching social situations such as freshers week, understanding your social style, and building routines that help you feel connected and comfortable in your new environment.

We also remind everyone that making friends takes time and it is important to set realistic expectations about that.

How does the quiz you mention help me feel more prepared before I arrive at uni?

The University Transition Quiz is a quick, free check-in that helps you understand where you feel confident and where you might want a bit more support.

It helps you reflect on how you feel about this upcoming change in a range of areas such as leaving home, your course choice, making new friends and living independently.

It's aim is to give you a personalised snapshot of how ready you feel right now (not a judgement). It is not in any way suggestive of how you will perform at university.

Is this support just for people who think they’re not ready or can I use it even if I feel pretty confident?

Whether you feel calm and confident already or you’re feeling nervous and unsure, our content is designed to enhance your readiness.

Even confident students get extra value from understanding the psychology of change, improving planning skills, and building a strong foundation so the first term becomes enjoyable rather than stressful.

What makes your support different from other uni prep resources?

Our approach blends psychology, practical planning, and real-world experience.

We aim to help you build real confidence, self-awareness and skills you can rely on during this transition and beyond.

Everything is easy to follow, grounded in what students actually face, and shaped around your unique journey into independence.

Know You're in Safe Hands

This programme is created by Louise Wiles and Elizabeth Gillies who both hold academic qualifications in psychology and have many years of experience supporting young people through the move to university and beyond.

Their approach combines psychology, coaching and practical tools to help you feel more confident, capable and in control as you start this new chapter.
